Zhou Shengxian Meets with German Environment Minister

  MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian, who accompanied Premier Wen Jiabao at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil, met with Mr. Peter Altmaier Environment Minister of Germany in the afternoon of June 21 local time.
      At the meeting, Minister Zhou Shengxian spoke highly of China-Germany environmental protection cooperation. He pointed out that China-Germany environmental cooperation has wide common understanding and good foundation as well as strong complementarities. Under new situation, both China and Germany should strengthen exchange and communications and put China-Germany environmental protection cooperation to a new high.
      Minister Peter Altmaier said, Germany attaches great importance to China-Germany environmental cooperation and is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the Chinese side. He said that Germany will continue its support to the development of CCICED Phase V.
      Vice Minister Li Ganjie, MEP Chief Engineer on Nuclear safety and DG of Department of International Cooperation Xu Qinghua and Ms. Fang Li, Vice Director General of MEP Foreign Economic Cooperation Office were at the meeting.
