Li Ganjie named as the new Party chief of MEP

Li Ganjie was named Party chief of the Ministry of Environmental Protection after his predecessor Chen Jining, the ministry said in a statement on May 31.

Born in November 1964, Li Ganjie holds a master's degree in nuclear reactor engineering from Tsinghua University. He served as director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration from 2007 to 2016, and vice-minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection in 2008 to 2016. In 2016 he was named Deputy Secretary of the Hebei CPC Provincial Committee.

Li Ganjie has served as the Secretary General of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) for Phase IV and Phase V from 2010 to 2015.
