Arthur Hanson

Senior Advisor and former president of International Institute for Sustainable Development 
Arthur Hanson is Distinguished Fellow and former President of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). He has held various senior advisory positions with international organizations, boards and government bodies in Canada and abroad. Much of his work on environment and development policies has taken place in North America and Asia, especially Indonesia and China. He was Professor and Director of the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University in Canada. Prior to that he worked with the Ford Foundation in Indonesia. Dr. Hanson trained as an ecologist, with a PhD from the University of Michigan, degrees from the University of British Columbia and an honorary Doctorate of Law from Mount Allison University. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Mr. Hanson has also served as member of the Council during Phase I, II, III ,IV and V.
