At the invitation of CIDA and US Environment Defense, CCICED delegation headed by Secretary General Zhu Guangyao, visited Canada and the United States during August 30-September 7, 2009. The delegation had discussions and exchanged views on CCICED’s work.
The CCICED delegation first visited CIDA Headquarters in Ottawa, and had a meeting with Mr. Hau-sing Tse, Vice President of CIDA and International Member of CCICED. The two sides spoke highly of the work and achievements of CCICED over past 18 years since its establishment. The CCICED policy findings over the past years have made unique contributions to environmental protection and development of China with full recognition by top leaders and relevant departments of the Chinese Government. The Chinese Government and MEP ministers attach great importance to the long-term development of CCICED and will provide constantly strong leadership and support to CCICED Secretariat.
The delegation then visited the headquarters of US Environmental Defense in New York and had discussions with Mr. Fred Krupp, President of US Environmental Defense, Mr. Peter Goldmark, Director of Climate and Air Program as well as Mr. Daniel J. Dudek, CCICED International Member and the Chief Economist of Environmental Defense. The two sides fully agreed that the cooperation between CCICED and Environmental Defense is a win-win cooperation. Both expressed the willingness of enhancing cooperation and sharing the findings.
