On November 12, MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian met in Beijing with Ms. Biggs, President of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the Executive Vice Chairperson of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development.

Mr. Zhou said that China is ready to enhance cooperation with all the world countries to address global environmental problems. As a platform of dialogue between China and the international community in the field of environment and development, China Council fully played its role and did a lot to provide recommendations for China's sustainable development.

Ms. Biggs highly appreciated the achievements Chinese Government has achieved in recent years and said that it is very important to work out solutions to address the environment and economic problems amid the current financial turmoil.
