Task Force on Pathways towards a Low Carbon Economy in China held the last working meeting in Beijing on Sept.14-15. Sir Gordon Conway, CCICED member and International Co-Chair of the Task Force, Chief Scientist of UK Department of International Development and Chairman of The World Business Council for Sustainable Development, CCICED international member Mr. Bjorn Stigson and Mr. Feng Fei, Director of the Department of Economic Industry Study, Development Research Center of the State Council and the Task Force member co-chaired the meeting. Chinese and international members of the Task Force, CCICED International Chief Advisor Mr. Hanson and Mr. Guo Jing, Assistant Secretary General of CCICED attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the work progress and the primary report of the Task Force, discussed the definition of low carbon economy, scenario analysis of the development of low carbon economy in China and policy recommendations in particular. Based on the discussion, the Task Force will revise the research report and submit the final report to CCICED 2009 Annual General Meeting.
Established in 2007 upon the approval of CCICED Bureau, the Task Force mainly focuses on study of the path of developing low carbon economy in China, analysis of future scenarios, identification of roadmap and submission of policy recommendation to the Chinese Government.
