On September 26, 2009, CCICED Task Force on Rural Development and its Energy, Environment and Climate Change Adaptation Policy held a working meeting in Beijing, soliciting opinions and suggestions from relevant experts on its study report. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Lin Erda, the Chinese Co-chair from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Guo Jing, CCICED Assistant Secretary General and Zhou Dadi, Chinese Member of the Council and researcher with the Energy Research Institute of NDRC attended the meeting. Experts from the Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture and Chinese members of the Task Force also present at the meeting.
The Task Force had thorough studies on the potential energy demands in the future development of rural areas in China, the environmental problems already caused and will be caused by energy consumption as well as how the rural areas enhance its capacity to adapt climate change in the context of global climate change. The Task Force will report its final findings to 2009 Annual General Meeting as scheduled.
