The Task Force on Ecosystem Issues and Policy Options Addressing Sustainable Development of China’s Ocean and Coast holds its second working meeting

  CCICED Task Force on Ecosystem Issues and Policy Options Addressing Sustainable Development of China’s Ocean and Coast held its second working meeting in Tianjin on November 15-17, 2009. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Su Jilan, Chinese Co-chair of the Task Force, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Researcher of No.2 Oceanic Institute of State Oceanic Administration (SOA) and Professor Peter Harrison from the Policy School of Queens University, Canada. About 30 participants including Chinese and international members of the Task Force, CCICED International Chief Advisor Mr. Arthur Hanson and relevant experts attended the meeting.

  The meeting reviewed the research work and primary findings of the Task Force since its extablishment in July of 2009. The experts and scholars exchanged views on issues including current eco environment of the Bohai Sea with the experts from SOA Monitoring Center, SOA Information Center and Tianjin Academy of Environment Sciences who took part in the meeting at the invitation of the Task Force. Based on the discussions, the Task Force will develop its Interim Report.

  During the meeting, participants visited Tianjin Lingang Economic Development Zone and Tianjin Eco City Project to learn about marine ecology and environment of coastal areas of China. Tianjin Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau helped arrange the visit.
